WHY PAULOWNIA TIMBER?
We use 100% Australian grown, plantation grown Paulownia Timber for all our pieces
Paulownia is strong, light weight and has beautiful character. But unlike hardwoods (that can take hundreds of years to grow), Paulownia only takes up to 10 years to reach maturity, which makes it more renewable. Paulownia is the fastest growing tree in the world which is why environmentalists call it "The Tree of the Future". Plantation grown is important in avoiding deforestation and the destruction of wildlife habitats and why we don't make furniture from forests.
benefits of paulownia
The highest strength-to-weight ratio of any timber in the world
It's strength will ensure your shelves remain straight and won't bow, and it's lightness means you can assemble and install any of our products all by yourself
OUR DESIGNS
A generous profile
We finish all our our designs to a generous 42mm thickness. This is almost 3 times the thickness of lower-durability flat pack furniture. This proportion adds stength to any design and makes your objects look more beautiful, in proportion to our timber.
hand matched
Unique character
All our designs can be customised to the mm in length or height and come in 3 different depths online. We hand match our timber grain and dress the character into the top faces and profiles of your design to balance visual interest.
The result? A piece as unique as your home.
Eco-friendly
Hardwax Oil Finish
We finish our timber with a hardwax oil that is made from natural ingredients. It is silky-satin to the touch, kid and food safe. This finish brings out the beautiful blonde timber grains, knots and markings.
100% plantation grown
Zero-Forest supply chain
You won't seeing us claiming our timber furniture is made from "sustainably managed forests" because forests are homes too (and we don't want to make yours beautiful at the expense of others).
We're not interested in greenwashing, or using logos like “FSC” or “PEFC” that have helped furniture companies fuel mass deforestation by claiming sustainable practice.
We want to help protect forests and provide a genuinely sustainable alternative.

Why Plantation Grown is the Best Way to Protect Forests
While timber is technically a renewable resource, the kinds of forests that are being logged all over the world, can’t be regenerated in our lifetime. There’s a better way to enjoy timber than paying thousands of dollars for hundreds of years old, single slab tabletops, or mass-produced furniture with timber veneer over chipboard or plywood using “FSC” or “PEFC” logos to justify how sourcing wood from forests is somehow sustainable.
